Phlebotomy
Suitable for
Any healthcare provider working under supervision in the public or private sector who may be required to take a venous sample of blood from a patient or client as part of their care using the Venous Vacutainer system. If your setting uses the Monovette system please do let us know at the point of booking. This course is ideal for doctors, practice/community nurses and medical support workers.
Please note: This course does not constitute a licence to practice as a Phlebotomist. The certificate-holder must only use the skills studied on this course under the supervision of an appropriate person. As the course practical elements use manikins only, competence in the subject must be determined in delegate’s own workplace under full clinical supervision which participants will need to arrange with their employer.
Course length
1 day – the course starts at 09:00 and can run through to 16:00 – this finish time will depend on the number of delegates attending and their level of experience – please call if you have further queries concerning this or any other aspect of the training.
Prerequisite
Delegate do not need any prior skills or qualifications to attend this course – it is designed for delegates who either need the skills for their job, or for privately-booked delegates who wish to add the skills to their CV whilst looking for a job that requires blood-taking.
Please bring with you a pair of disposable gloves and an apron. Training will be given using the Vacutainer system. Please bring a small sample of disposables if your organisation uses a different blood collection system.
Certification
Delegates will receive a Norvic certificate of attendance.
