Mental Health First Aid (MHFA)

AN UPDATE

We recently let you know that we are launching a one-day Mental Health First Aid (MHFA) open course. We can confirm that the first training course will be held at our Cambridgeshire training centre on:

6th March 2019 09:00-16:00

This one-day mental health awareness and skills course qualifies you as an Adult MHFA Champion
The day includes a mix of presentations, group discussions and workshop activities. You will get an MHFA manual to keep and refer to whenever you need it.
When you complete the day you'll get a certificate to say you are an MHFA Champion (MHFA England)

As promised, here are the answers to the questions you have raised:

Will this course be delivered in Norwich?

If the course in Cambridgeshire proves popular we will roll out open sessions in Norwich. There will always be the option to book a closed course for your delegates at our site or yours across East Anglia.

How does the one-day course differ from the two-day course?

Attending the one-day course allows delegates to become MHFA Champions. This awareness and skills course teaches you to

  • Recognise the main signs and symptoms of common mental health issues
  • Provide initial support
  • Guide a person towards appropriate professional help
  • Be mindful of your own wellbeing
  • Develop an understanding of how you can create and maintain a healthier workforce or community

How will attending an MHFA course help me or my business?

Research and evaluation shows that taking part in an MHFA course:

  • Raises awareness and mental health literacy
  • Reduces stigma around mental ill health
  • Boosts knowledge and confidence in dealing with mental health issues
  • Promotes early intervention which enables recovery

Recent evaluation comments from MHFA courses delivered:

Thanks Juliet – I feel like you have facilitated an open, discursive and informative environment over the two days.

Loved the style of Juliet, her knowledge and her ability to cover this huge topic.

I feel really positive as to how I can now help people as a result of the course.

We hope this helps. Of course if you need any further information or would like to reserve your places or book a 'closed' session, don't hesitate to contact us. Further updates will continue to appear on our websiteFacebook pages and Twitter feed.

We are currently gauging interest so that we know how frequently we should run courses and at which centre(s). Do let us know your thoughts below:
