Course Aims

To help learners understand what sharpes are, where they are likly to be encountered and the relevant legislation surrounding this.

Suitable For

Anyone who may encounter needlesticks (sharps) in their working environment.

None. 

Certification

All delegates will be awarded a Norvic certificate of attendance.

Course Venue

Closed courses are held at our venues in Norwich and Cambridge or alternatively, courses can be arranged at clients' own site anywhere in the UK (subject to suitability).

Syllabus

  • •Introduction - During the usual course introduction the trainer will ensure he / she is aware of the settings the learners work in and thus will be able to make the course relevant to the group. A list of the pertinent environments will be made and referred to during the course 
  • Using power point illustration the trainer will answer the questions - Sharps are? and the dangers are?
  • Syndicate group exercise - Where are you likely to find sharps and why?
  • Protective clothing - what will help?
  • Trainer gives advice regarding reporting discovery of sharps incident / acciden
  • Who to tell / accident book completion
  • Disposal
  • Practical session on the correct first aid approach
