Rescue From Ligature
Course Aims
To train delegates in safe and effective techniques when rescuing a person from ligature (hanging). This course is unlike most others available in the UK as it involves actual practical rescue of a full size, 80 kg hanging manikin.
Suitable For
Any person working in the public or private sector who may have to perform rescue of a person from ligature.
Course Length
2 hours
Pre-requisite
Delegates must be employed in an environment where this knowledge and skill is required for genuine reasons and evidence of this may be requested on course booking.
Certification
All delegates will be awarded a Norvic certificate of attendance.
Course Venue
Closed courses are held at training venues throughout East Anglia or alternatively, courses can be arranged for at client' site anywhere in the UK (subject to suitability).
Syllabus
• Ligature risk assessment; Identification of potential ligatures, identification of ligature points, implementing control measures • Use of the ligature knife – demonstration and practical exercise • Management of the ligatured person • Personal risk assessment and approach, single rescuer and team approach • Post-ligature
