Automated External Defibrillation - Refresher

Course Aims

To train and qualify delegates in the knowledge and skills required to use an automated/advisory external defibrillator (AED).

Suitable For

Any person who is expected to use an automated external defibrillator as part of their first aid or other pre-hospital care role.

Course Length

2 hours

Pre-requisite

Delegates attending this course must be up-to-date in Basic Life Support techniques and have valid certification. All delegates should have attended an initial course in automated external defibrillation and hold a valid up-to-date certificate for this.

Certification

Successful candidates will be awarded a certificate of competence in the use of an AED.

Course Venue

Closed courses are held at our venues in Norwich and Cambridge or alternatively, courses can be arranged at clients' own site anywhere in the UK (subject to suitability).

Syllabus

• Introduction to the Chain of Survival, • Using a medically controlled programme, • Patient chest preparation, • Reporting and recording procedures, • Safety precautions when using an AED, • Protocols and procedures, • Attachment of electrodes, • Critical incident debriefing.
